Here at Optimum Financial we don’t see you as another number, we see you as an important individual, as you are.
We aim to build long term relationships with our clients, so we regard professionalism and integrity as fundamentals in order for us to achieve this.
We currently offer two different types of Health Insurance:
- Private Medical Insurance (PMI)
- Permanent Health Insurance (PHI)
PMI - With NHS hospital queues still growing, private medical insurance is an appealing, though often expensive purchase, although what you pay for is what you get.
PMI premiums are worked out on the basis of age and the type of medical cover thst is required and there is a wide range of different private medical insurances to choose from.
At the basic level PMI kicks in when you need specialist treatment or if you need to go into hospital. Some health insurance policies cover you when the NHS cannot provide treatment within a certain period of time.
At the luxury end of the market there are policies that cover a wide range of medical services such as dentistry, eye care and even spectacles, although the more a health insurance policy covers, the higher the premium will be.
PMI is complicated for those approaching it for the first time. In order to make sure that the health insurance policy you choose is the right one to meet your needs it is worth speaking to a specialist insurance adviser who has specialist knowledge in medical policies and can guide you through the maze of different offerings on the market.
PHI - Permanent Health Insurance provides cover in the event that the insured is unable to work, and therefore unable to earn, due to illness or injury.
The premium cost will depend on the extent of the illnesses covered, the age of the policyholder and period of time that elapses between when the insured becomes ill and the deferred period.
There is considerable choice between different PHI covers offered by different insurers. The key is to choose a balance between the cover that you require versus the cost of the insurance premium. A financial adviser with knowledge of the permanent health market can help you select the appropriate PHI insurance policy for you. If you are fortunate enough never to have to make a claim under your policy you may have some regrets at a later date. However many people have been very grateful indeed that, among all the other worries they had when they became unable to work, they knew they did not have to think about how they were going to meet domestic bills and keep a roof over their head until they recovered.

Please find some frequently asked questions about health insurance also known as Private Medical Insurance: What is health insurance? Private Medical Insurance (PMI) in the UK provides access to high-quality private medical facilities and medical treatments, at a time and place of your convenience. Health Insurance also plays an equally important role in helping fund the cost of early diagnosis and treatment of acute conditions. This could be anything from a few sessions of physiotherapy, to more complex procedures such as major heart surgery or biological therapy for the treatment of cancer. What conditions does health insurance cover? Private medical insurance is designed to cover the cost of private medical treatment for acute conditions. An acute condition is a disease, illness or injury that is likely to respond quickly to treatment and return someone to the state of health they were in before, or lead to a full recovery. It doesn’t usually cover treatment of long-term (chronic) conditions, where the main aim is to keep the symptoms under control – these are still treated within the NHS. Private medical insurance also won’t cover any pre-existing conditions that you may have when taking out a plan. Here at Optimum Financial we provide helpful advice about health insurance and many other types of insurance cover.
